Board staff points to policy BCB: chair limited to two consecutive years

Board member Brenna raised a question about whether longevity on the board should affect officer selection. Sarah Avery, who staff members and the superintendent joined in the virtual meeting, looked up board policy and relayed the relevant language.
"As far as I know, the only thing in terms of longevity is that the chair can't serve more than 2 years," Sarah Avery said while consulting the policy. She clarified the restriction as two consecutive years during follow-up comments. The board did not identify a comparable limitation for the vice chair in the policy review.
Winnick and other board members noted respect for multiple nominees and said individual conversations could clarify personal voting rationale; no policy change was proposed during the session.
