Board members asked about sustainability and whether the grant targets Black and Brown students specifically; Dr. Collins said existing classes at some middle schools (Dexter McCarty and Gordon Russell) meet diversity expectations and that equipment longevity and staff commitment are central to sustaining the program beyond the one-year grant period.
Motion 95 to accept the MHCRC grant was made by Blake Petersen, seconded by Shawn Farrens, and carried 5–0 with one absence. Staff will appropriate grant funds when confirmed and oversee procurement and training.
