Donors give scholarships and WEM celebrates spring athletics and activities

The board accepted multiple monetary donations to district scholarships and programs during the June 22 meeting.
Recorded donations included $2,000 from the Elysian Area Foundation to its scholarship fund, $1,000 from iWealth, $500 from Deb Kuball to the Bob Kuball Scholarship, $2,000 from James and Barbara Roemhildt to the Jill Roemhildt Scholarship, $3,500 from the American Red Cross to the Red Cross Scholarship, and smaller gifts to choir and student activities. The board approved acceptance of the donations by roll call vote.
Activities Director Jeff Boran reported spring athletic honors, including All-Conference recognitions in baseball, softball and track, and noted Clay Target participation of 72 shooters. Community Education reported summer SACC enrollment of 55 children and 48 registrations for July swimming lessons; volleyball and football camps also reported participation figures.
Board members thanked community donors and staff for program support; several scholarship totals and local donor names were highlighted in principal and activities reports.
