WEM reports student testing, arts successes and updates on Phase 2 construction

School leaders updated the board on testing, extracurricular successes and facilities work at the April 27 WEM Board meeting.
High School Principal Brandon Tagg said MCA testing ramped up this month: science testing took place April 14–15, math on April 21–22 and English was scheduled for April 28–29. Tagg also highlighted recent extracurricular successes, including the spring musical "Footloose," which continued after a Sunday performance experienced a power outage, and several arts students who advanced to state-level events.
Activities Director Jeff Boran reported that Madison Wilker, Gage Bliss and Alix Velzke had been selected to participate in the State Visual Arts Festival on May 9 at Wayzata High School. Superintendent Mark Winter said Phase 2 construction has begun in the basement, asbestos removal is planned for mid-May, and the district will move from the Morristown school to the Waterville location during the last two days of school; a Morristown Farewell has been announced.
