Upper Merion EAC highlights Aug. 5 backyard bird presentation and outreach plans

The Upper Merion Township Environmental Advisory Council on July 7 highlighted community outreach plans including an Aug. 5 presentation at the library titled “Making your Backyard a Bird Sanctuary.” The talk is scheduled for 6:00 PM and requires registration, the council recorded. Theresa Landewe noted she has bird-friendly habitat signs from the Valley Forge Audubon and that volunteers will help establish a Facebook page for native-plant education and plant swaps.
Council members also discussed a pollinator-garden project scheduled for September that will require solarizing grass in advance of planting. The meeting record shows the council asked volunteers to help with social-media outreach (Facebook and Instagram) and invited suggestions for topics at the WeConservePA conference on Oct. 24.
