The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (WEM) Board of Education on June 22 approved the district's May 9'June 12 financial report and moved forward with the preliminary budget for the 2026-27 school year.
Board members voted to accept the financial report that recorded $3,367,558.05 in bills and payroll, $3,574,672.97 in deposits, and transfers totaling $1,200,000. During discussion trustees called out specific payments, including $20,000 to Jade Axis Solutions for payroll services and a $1,200 payment to Bellissimo Paint and Coating, LCC for cultural arts projects, and multiple expenditures associated with the Indoor Air Quality Project.
The board later approved the district's Fiscal Year 10 Long-Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) Ten-Year Plan and adopted the 2026-27 preliminary budget in separate roll call votes. The board also approved a motion to maintain the district's Minnesota Rural Education Association (MREA) membership for 2026-27 at $1,840.
The board recorded six members voting in favor of the budget and related resolutions. The district indicated construction and facilities work tied to the LTFM schedule remain on track, and the superintendent reported demolition for project Phase 2 is essentially complete.
