Students honored and schools report on food drives, activities
Summary

The board heard student reports and recognized student achievements from across the district. OHS student Joanna Anguiano-Cisneros reported that the 'Help Them to Hope' can drive collected 3,000 cans (short of a 5,000-can goal), freshmen had advisory events and the culinary class returned to OHS. OMS student Santiago Oviedo noted a school food pantry and reward incentives if donation goals are met.
Staff read nominations for November’s student recognitions. Andrea Buchholz and classroom teachers delivered praise in prepared statements: one teacher wrote, "Mercer Thornfeldt is a remarkable leader and role model among his peers. He is extremely responsible in all realms of school," while other teachers highlighted students' leadership, responsibility and growth. Awards covered elementary through high school and included examples of students taking leadership roles in class and supporting peers.
The recognitions segment also served as a public-facing summary of school activities and volunteer efforts. No board action was required for the recognitions and reports; the items were informational.
