Stephanie Bowen, Director of Communications, summarized a PCG-conducted Community Engagement Audit that used surveys, focus groups, site visits and stakeholder interviews. The audit identified five themes: school climate and culture, inconsistent communication, student-staff relationships, uneven curriculum implementation and facility/safety issues. Bowen highlighted a notable perception gap: "90% of staff believe families feel welcome, but only 46% of families agree."
Bowen said next steps include expanding multilingual communication, standardizing messaging protocols to reduce notification fatigue, increasing proactive outreach at family events and creating a project tracker to monitor progress on priorities. She told the board the full PCG report will be emailed to directors for review and that initial priorities will focus on multilingual access, cultural representation and improving volunteer and partner engagement.
