During the public-comment portion of the Aug. 3 meeting, East Arcadia Fire Department leadership addressed concerns raised in a letter to county offices and the state fire marshal. The speaker said the department maintains detailed run logs, has responded to major fires and mutual-aid calls, and provided an example where immediate action and Narcan administration contributed to saving a life: "That person was saved and didn't die," the speaker said.
The speaker acknowledged occasional mix-ups about jurisdictional boundaries but emphasized that the department responds wherever needed and has been participating in mutual-aid responses with neighboring departments. The speaker asked the board to continue support for training, personnel recruitment and equipment as the department works to improve its rating and capacity.
