Royse City FFA advocacy team advances to state, places 22nd

“We made it all the way to state, which only the top 24 teams in the entire state make it,” Parr said. “I think doing the math, we were 22nd overall in the states.” The board and superintendent praised the students for developing public-speaking and advocacy abilities; trustees noted the experience helps students learn to communicate about agriculture and civic issues. Trustees and district leaders presented the students as part of Board Appreciation Month recognition.
Parr listed team members and described the contest format, saying students framed their presentation as a game show to debunk misconceptions about the meat industry. Board members said the accomplishment reflects program growth and thanked the students and staff. No formal action was taken — the segment was a recognition and celebration of student achievement.
