Board approves three certified faculty hires, one pending licensure

Vice President Catherine Field moved and Ms. Tangela Oliver seconded to approve the employment of certified staff for the 2025–2026 school year, pending clear CBIs and, where noted, licensure. The hires listed were Dana Schwengels (Special Education Teacher, Thomas School); Lanaya Nelson (2nd Grade Teacher, Thomas School — pending licensure); and Angela Mausey (Special Education Teacher, Carbondale Middle School). "Field moved, seconded by Oliver, Recommend the employment of the following certified staff for the 2025-2026 school year, pending a clear CBI," the minutes state.
The board’s roll call vote showed unanimous approval among the five members present (Field, Oliver, Hunt, McHenry and Cawthon); Greer and Major were marked absent. The district recorded that Lanaya Nelson’s appointment is contingent on completion of required licensure prior to accepting the assignment.
