Superintendent Tim Crider updated the board on plans to transition to the district’s Fall 2026 reconfiguration, reporting that family outreach included a published "Reconfiguration Roadmap," intent-to-return forms and a transportation survey showing strong support for shuttle or express bus routes to reduce travel time for families.
Crider also reported progress on staffing transitions and postings for grades 3–5, master-scheduling work to expand math and writing interventions, and operational steps such as adding seatbelts on new buses. The district said geotechnical borings for the Viking Lane property are scheduled May 27–June 12 and that accessibility upgrades — including a new stair lift at Hillcrest Elementary — are moving forward.
The update included emergency-preparedness work: a partnership with the Oregon Department of Human Services to secure a FEMA Type 5 container for North Bay as part of the state resilience hub initiative.
