County says sewer relocation is central to Trips Run design; submission expected mid‑August

Residents pressed county staff about how far the sewer would be moved and how maintenance access would be preserved. Jacob Green said the county plans to shift sections of the sanitary sewer about "10, 15 feet maybe" back toward the center of the existing easement upstream of Cofer Road and that more significant relocation will occur near the Barrett Road parcels where the floodplain bench is planned.
"I’m expecting to get a submission for that sewer alignment in mid August," Jacob Green told attendees, and staff said sewer and flood designs will proceed concurrently after that submission. Staff noted the easement runs from Annandale Road to Sleepy Hollow Road and provides access points for maintenance and camera inspections.
County staff said a new pipe is expected to address capacity concerns, provide a longer service life and reduce the need for frequent repairs. One staff member said the county’s inspection program is roughly once every 10 years and that a modern upsized pipe could reduce interim maintenance burdens; a county presenter also said the goal is a long-lived pipe — roughly a 75-year expected service life.
