Royse City ISD celebrates FFA accomplishments, spotlights mentoring program and enrollment trends

Caitlin Drennan, an agriculture teacher at Royse City High School, recognized students and officers from the Royse City FFA chapter, which she said is the largest student-led organization in the area with more than 700 members. Drennan listed contest placings across livestock, ag mechanics, rabbits, sheep and goats and noted the Collin County show resulted in $35,713 paid out to students.
The board also highlighted a mentoring program launched by the counseling team that supported over 62 students last year and asked community members to consider volunteering. Superintendent Dr. Anderson reported the district ended the year under 10,000 students (9,535), a change of 461 students since the previous school-year end, and said staff will continue registration and outreach efforts. Trustees praised staff and volunteers for their work supporting student extracurricular and mentoring opportunities.
