District presents Curriculum Management Audit and plan for instructional improvement

Deputy Superintendent Jeanne Grazioli told the board that the district initiated a Curriculum Management Audit (CMA) following the Strategic Planning process in March 2020 and described the CMA's background, site visits and five focus areas: District Vision and Accountability; Curriculum; Consistency and Equity; Feedback; and Productivity.
Grazioli summarized the Six Key Recommendations from the audit and described a Curriculum Management Plan that focuses on three large areas of effort: Instructional Improvement, Policy Revision, and Instructional Technology Improvement. She also demonstrated where to find the Curriculum Management Plan on the district website and pulled up fourth‑grade ELA resources to illustrate teacher feedback needs around pacing, rubrics and rigor.
Board directors asked follow‑up questions about whether the district would write its own curriculum versus purchasing published curriculum and how the district would sequence professional development for teachers engaged in curriculum writing. Grazioli said the plan includes supports for teacher PD tied to curriculum work and mechanisms for classroom feedback and pacing adjustments.
