Construction on Moss Elementary, new high school progressing; district reports $53M cash on hand

District and contractor representatives gave trustees a construction update on Moss Elementary and the new high-school build during the superintendent's report.
Northstar representative Niels told the board, "Moss Elementary School has done all of its inspections and finals with the city," and said punch-list work and exterior irrigation remain weather-dependent. He showed aerial photos of the new high school, noting the three-story classroom volumes, glazing installation and auditorium steel set in place.
Finance staff reported the district has just over $53,000,000 in cash on hand for Bond 2023 and said about $151,000,000 has been spent on the high school project so far against a $368,000,000 budget. The district said it expects Moss Elementary furniture moves in early June and an August opening for students, and trustees praised the construction schedule and weekly project meetings.
No action was required; the update was informational and intended to keep trustees and the public apprised of schedule and cash flow.
