Royse City ISD announced several administrative appointments and staff recognitions during its May board meeting.
The district named April Soderquist as chief communications officer; Soderquist, introduced at the meeting, said the district has given her a warm welcome and she looks forward to connecting with the community. "It has been a warm welcome since the first time I entered the doors," she said after being introduced.
The board also introduced Ms. Jamila Thomas as the new principal of Harry Herndon Elementary and Mr. Carlos Solis as principal of Bobby Summers Middle School; both were described by administrators as experienced campus leaders. Trustees and administrators presented campus Teachers of the Year from multiple campuses and recognized their contributions to instruction and student engagement.
The appointments are personnel actions announced during the public session; the board noted some hires and promotions were also ratified from closed session earlier in the meeting.
