Royse City High seniors, athletes recognized; multiple new school records highlighted

The Royce City ISD board honored graduating scholars and several student-athletes at its May meeting, spotlighting dual-credit graduates and multiple record-setting performances.
Valedictorian Natalie Santos Silva, introduced by board staff, told trustees, "I'm going to go to college, to UTD, and I plan on majoring in software engineering." Salutatorian Jelissa Gutierrez said she will attend the University of Colorado Boulder and pursue integrative physiology.
Coaches highlighted athletic achievements: a girls 4x100 relay set a school record (48.93), the boys 4x400 posted 3:20.07, senior Jamelle Ward set a high-jump school record at 6'11", and junior Kira Bowman set a pole-vault mark of 13'6" and earned state recognition. Coaches and trustees praised the student-athletes for balancing academics and athletics; several were also named academic all-state by Texas coaches associations.
Trustees invited the community to celebrate graduating students at the district's upcoming commencement and emphasized the role of dual-credit and extracurricular programs in college and career readiness.
