Board recognizes retiring staff and honors trustees; members note wildfire impacts

The Board of Trustees and district staff recognized the retirements of Amanda Litteken (Resolution R-25-01) and Mariola Clements (Resolution R-25-02) at the Jan. 15 meeting. Each retiree received a resolution plaque, a bouquet from the district and certificates from city and state representatives. Trustees expressed gratitude for their service and the board approved the retirement resolutions 5-0.
Superintendent Dr. Catherine Kawaguchi read a Board Recognition Resolution acknowledging trustees' leadership; she noted the district manages an approximately $95,000,000 annual budget, serves about 5,200 students and employs over 800 staff. Trustees shared personal remarks, expressed sympathy for families affected by recent wildfires, and acknowledged staff — including Maintenance & Operations Director Ronaldo Garcia-Lopez and his team — for preparing classrooms and supporting students during power shutoffs.
