Beaufort County officials announced a special called meeting of the Board of Voter Registration and Elections today to consider approving poll workers for a special Republican primary on Aug. 11, 2026, called to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the death of Senator Lindsey Graham.
"Agenda items include the approval of poll workers for the August 11th 2026 US Senate Republican primary," said Kevin Libby, the BCTV anchor during the county bulletin. The county said early voting for the special primary begins Aug. 5 and runs through Aug. 7.
The bulletin reiterated voter eligibility rules presented by county staff: voters who participated in the June Republican primary or who did not vote in either party's June primary are eligible to vote in the special Republican primary; voters who participated in the June Democratic primary are not eligible. County officials also pointed listeners to the county news page for a press release and virtual attendance link.
The county is expected to finalize poll-worker lists and publish polling locations; the bulletin said some polling locations were still being verified. No formal vote results were announced in the bulletin; the item was listed as an agenda matter for the board meeting.
