Several residents used the public‑comment period to press the council on zoning, public safety and neighborhood services.
Marquila Moore spoke in support of municipal building project resolutions and later described a lawsuit by SAS Associates that challenged council zoning decisions, saying the city prevailed and praising Council member Ritter's factors in the case. Maxine Colston, who said she holds a business license for Peaceful Parenting Connect LLC, asked the council to approve a zoning amendment at 553 Longsdale Crescent to open a specialized home for vulnerable youth called the "Martha Ann House." She said neighbors had given their blessings and spelled out program supports the home would provide.
Vic Nichols raised a string of concerns about traffic management, photo monitoring equity and enforcement of handicapped parking; he urged the city to consider volunteer photo‑reporting. Tommy Hart described repeated instances of neighbors shooting on or near his property, said police response was inadequate and accused the department of not enforcing existing ordinances; the mayor asked the manager to follow up on the claims. Brad Moore, a neighborhood historian, criticized the tendency to lionize historical figures and framed his comments in the context of an upcoming anniversary.
