Chesapeake council OKs lease with public schools for joint fleet maintenance facility

Council authorized a lease agreement with Chesapeake Public Schools for 22,394 square feet of office and warehouse space at 3316 South Military Highway to house a joint city–schools fleet maintenance facility. The item was presented by the city manager and approved on a unanimous recorded vote.
"Item 7 is a resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into a lease agreement with Chesapeake Public Schools for 22,394 square feet of office warehouse space located at 3316 South Military Highway for the exclusive purpose of operating a joint city schools fleet maintenance facility," the manager said. Council members moved, seconded, and adopted the resolution 8–0.
City staff said the site will be used exclusively for the joint maintenance operation; staff will return with lease-execution details and any required amendments.
