Port Orford-Langlois School Board approves hires, athletic co-op and multiple policies

At its Aug. 19 meeting the Port Orford-Langlois School Board approved a consent agenda that included several hires, unanimously approved a cooperative football and baseball agreement with Myrtle Point, and adopted 29 district policies including an amendment on the student board representative appointment process.
The Port Orford-Langlois School Board met Aug. 19 at Pacific High School and online to consider routine business, personnel actions and several formal approvals. The board approved the consent agenda, which included a correction to the July minutes and hires for an English teacher, two special education instructional assistants and a bus driver.
Carol Hacherl moved and Angel Ashdown seconded the consent agenda approval; all five board members voted in favor. The consent agenda specifically approved the hire of Edward Williams as an English teacher, Rhinda Reed and Susan Collinge as SPED instructional assistants, Rusty Raymond as a bus driver, and a travel request for Lisa Wendel. Board member Carol Hacherl also noted the July minutes should record approval of the superintendent's evaluation schedule and that correction was made before approval.
The meeting proceeded to other agenda items, including a motion that later led to unanimous approval of a cooperative athletics sponsorship (see separate article) and formal adoption of multiple district policies. The board adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
