The district plans several maintenance projects to be completed over winter break, CFO Randy Anderson reported. Work contracted to Tremco included roof patching and quarterly inspections; additional items scheduled during the break include ice-machine replacement at Kurtz Gym, playground chips at Colonel Wright to cover exposed concrete pillars, ceiling-tile replacements at Wahtonka, drywall patching and a deeper custodial clean.
Tamara Taylor, the district’s new Sodexo food-service representative, said Sodexo will run a Future Chef Competition for elementary students on Feb. 19. Taylor told the board the event needs five judges and that "including three board members" as judges would avoid triggering a public meeting; Directors Wynn-Elledge, Jones and Nelson volunteered to serve. The superintendent indicated she would also participate.
