Dana Pedersen, superintendent of the Columbia Gorge Education Service District, presented the ESD’s Local Service Plan for 2025–26 and described its four mandated service areas—early childhood special education, technology support, school improvement services and administrative services. Pedersen told the board the ESD’s budget relies heavily on grants (59% of the ESD budget) and that the Local Service Plan represents 24% of its funding.
Pedersen announced an EPA Community Change Grant intended to renovate Chenowith Middle School into a larger preschool facility to serve infants and toddlers in the region. The board voted to approve Resolution #24‑25‑09 adopting the Local Service Plan (motion: Nelson/Aparicio) and urged continued collaboration on technology and early‑learning initiatives across the Columbia Gorge districts.
