The Ontario School District Board unanimously approved a remodel of the May Roberts Primary kitchen and approved a bundled motion on 2025–26 contract renewals and non-renewals at its Feb. 24 meeting.
Vice-Chair Mike Blackaby moved to approve the May Roberts kitchen remodel; Director Matt Stringer seconded and the motion carried with Uptmor/Blackaby/Stringer voting yes. The board then approved a motion on contract renewals; Chair Bret Uptmor amended that motion to include contract non-renewals before Director Stringer seconded the amended motion and the board voted to approve it.
Superintendent Nicole Albisu said the district is meeting every other week to sequence improvements for the softball field and has a prioritized list of updates. Albisu noted the district "does not get funded for facilities," and therefore the district looks for outside revenue streams; she confirmed the softball field could be rented to other teams to generate income for future projects. The board did not vote on softball specifics during the meeting; actions were limited to the remodel and contract decisions.
