Ontario School District board awards audit contract to Sencivia

The Ontario School District Board of Directors voted unanimously Feb. 24 to award audit services to Sencivia following a request for proposals that yielded three applicants.
Director of Finance Devin Collins told the board the district completed the finance portion of its audit paperwork and described Sencivia as a firm that "has a format to begin to look at a budget in May so they would have plenty of time to work with us on getting our audit in time." Director Matt Stringer moved the contract award and Vice-Chair Mike Blackaby seconded; Chair Bret Uptmor, Vice-Chair Blackaby and Director Stringer recorded yes votes.
Collins said he attended the recent COSA conference in Salem, Oregon, where participants discussed cash-flow management and other finance matters; he described the conference conversations as "healthy discussions about cash flow management" and said the district is positioned to meet audit timelines. The board did not discuss alternative contract terms on the record.
The motion to award Sencivia was processed as a routine business item and passed without dissent. The board also approved a set of other routine administrative items during the same meeting.
