Trustees opened the meeting with a series of student recognitions across the district, celebrating academic and athletic achievements from elementary school spotlights to high‑school national qualifiers.
Lizzie Watson (S6), sponsor of TAFE at Royse City High School, announced that Emma Kramer and Reagan Williams advanced to nationals and that Cade Wagner received a gold medal for a teacher‑appreciation project. Coach Alvarado (S7) highlighted the powerlifting program's results: 75 lifters on the roster, 37 regional qualifiers, 15 state qualifiers, 26 new school records, eight regional records and four state records. The girls' team captured its third consecutive regional championship and placed second at state. "We finally beat Los Fresnos," one coach said, noting state placings and multiple record setters.
Jordan Chavez (S11), girls' basketball coach, recognized student‑athlete Carly Parlier as a THSCA academic All‑State 2nd team honoree and noted the district had two first‑team All‑State selections in Brock McMinn and Dylan Bookout. The board and audience gave repeated applause as staff and students accepted certificates and watched short videos showcasing campus work and athletic highlights.
Trustees emphasized the pride and community value of recognizing students across academics, athletics and extracurricular programs; several board members highlighted the continued growth in district participation and programs that support career pathways and extracurricular excellence.
