County Administrator Hank Solowiej briefed the Commissioners on a request from Columbia Gas for a letter of support for its application to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for a Rider Program. Solowiej said the program would assess Columbia Gas customers up to $1.50 per month to generate revenue to extend natural-gas service to a new EHOVE project; customers are currently assessed approximately $0.70 per month, so the change could increase Erie County customers' bills by as much as about $0.80 per month. Solowiej recommended the Commissioners decline to provide a letter of support; the Commissioners concurred.
The transcript records the county administration's concerns about the potential customer cost increase and shows the Board accepted the administrator's recommendation. The record does not include a formal vote count or a written letter and does not show Columbia Gas representatives speaking at the meeting.
