Board approves one 2-hour early release for staff collaboration

The Silver Falls School District 4J board voted unanimously on Oct. 13, 2025, to reinstate a single 2-hour early release this school year to support staff collaboration, professional development and team planning. Superintendent Kim Kellison described the release as valuable for both licensed and classified staff; Assistant Superintendent Dr. Anthony Rosilez reported that the minutes lost would not prevent the district from meeting required seat time.
SFEA President Emily Rao had urged the board to restore the release, saying teachers value the time for curriculum and data work. Director Daniel Cote moved to approve the 2-hour release and Director Josh Ort seconded; the motion passed with all board members voting in favor.
