During public comment, fourth-grader Peter Libert urged the board to review school lunch portions and playground space at Pacific Ridge Elementary.
"I would like to talk about lunch and recess and how King Kisto both could help students learn better and be healthier," Libert said, describing items students will not eat and noting limited green play space on the elementary playground. He asked the board to consider more grassy areas, more balls and sidewalk chalk so more students would be active during recess.
Libert also said last-in-line students sometimes miss side dish options and that wasted or unpalatable food reduces energy and focus in afternoon classes. Board members thanked him and asked staff to follow up with guidance about nutrition program rules and options for addressing playground access and equipment.
