Superintendent Susan announced to the board that she will retire from Seaside School District and offered to remain on staff through at least Sept. 1 to support recruitment and a smooth leadership transition.
"I am here tonight to, announce my retirement, with the district," Susan said, thanking board members and staff for the opportunity to serve. She said she planned to work with the board and employee groups to recruit and orient the next superintendent and that, if needed, she would stay longer to ensure a smooth handoff.
Board members responded with appreciation for her seven years in the district and six years as superintendent. The chair and other board members publicly thanked Susan for her leadership and said the board would begin a process to identify and hire a successor while ensuring continuity through the summer.
