Chair Phil Wiesner opened discussion on whether the board should adopt formal goals; after extended discussion the board decided to defer and take a self-reflective look at board functioning and processes next June. The board did not set specific goals at the Sept. 22 work session.
Superintendent Kim Kellison presented three sample Board/Superintendent operating agreements from the Oregon School Boards Association (OSBA) that had been uploaded to BoardBook and said she preferred sample #2 because it was the simplest. Chair Wiesner asked whether the board wanted an agreement and suggested a small group of board members work together to refine the chosen sample. No formal motion or vote on an operating agreement occurred at this meeting.
