Crescent City recognizes E3 interns for summer city placements

The City Council of Crescent City recognized five participants in the E3 (education, experience and employment) internship program during its regular meeting. City Manager (speaker 3) said the council had directed staff to keep the program during a tight budget year and described placements with the high school and local employers.
Gabriela Ramirez Hooper, who split time between the recreation and economic development departments, told the council: "It's been my pleasure to work with the wonderful minds of the staff, partners, and citizens of Crescent City this summer." She said she learned budgeting in Excel, helped develop a Shop Local campaign and interviewed business owners as part of economic development work.
Director Yeager highlighted three public-works interns—Sarah Crozier, Stephen Mahan and Travis Weir—and noted the internships provided both city help and life skills for the students. Recreation staff introduced Nathan Orgel, who said the pool job gave him a new appreciation for the facility's role in serving all ages. City officials said the program helps prepare students for future employment while supporting seasonal city needs.
