Director says HVAC automation still pending after trustees note building gets cold

Alison Ames Galstad reported that automated controls for the library’s HVAC system have not yet been installed and that the current system behavior is causing uncomfortable interior temperatures. "We are still waiting on automated controls to be installed for the HVAC system – it has been getting very cold in the building, especially when it is very hot outside," Galstad said, explaining that the boiler currently runs in summer and only shuts off when outside temperatures exceed 95°F, which forces chillers to run hard.
Trustees did not take formal action on HVAC controls at the July 8 meeting. Galstad’s remarks signaled staff awareness of the problem and that installation of automated controls is pending; no timeline was provided during the meeting.
