The Erie County Commissioners adopted two resolutions on June 29 authorizing a local permissive owner-occupancy credit (under Ohio Revised Code Section 323.152) and a local permissive homestead exemption (under Ohio Revised Code Section 319.304).
Commissioner Old noted the county's participation in both programs, stating, "Erie County is the only county in Ohio that has participated in both property tax relief options, saving citizens of Erie County $20 million." The resolutions direct the County Auditor to establish procedures for applications, verification and calculation in accordance with the cited Ohio statutes.
Both measures passed on motions moved by Mr. Shoffner and seconded by Mr. Old with roll call recorded as all aye.
