PG&E joint trench, Comcast and utility work scheduled before excavation

City staff walked the subcommittee through utility maps and explained that a joint trench will remove and replace the utilities that run through the project corridor before sheet‑pile and excavation work begins. Tony Boyd described the plan and told members that "that joint trench will be removing, all of the existing utilities" so reconnections and temporary service arrangements can be in place prior to heavy construction.
The plan calls for coordinated temporary shut‑off valves and bypass piping handled by the water district, and staff said Comcast is the only active telecom provider in the immediate area (AT&T copper in the corridor has been abandoned). Boyd said PG&E scheduled the joint‑trench work for the last week of June and first week of July and has applied for encroachment permits. Committee members pressed on whether old services would be dug up or capped; staff said most will be cut and capped and then reconnected after construction.
