Board appoints Kishana Noll to fill Silver Falls SD 4J vacancy

The Silver Falls SD 4J Board of Directors on Monday appointed Kishana Noll to fill the board seat left vacant by Tom's resignation. The board conducted public interviews with seven applicants and used a round-by-round voting process; the tally reported during deliberations was one vote for Brian Starr and five votes for Noll, and the chair declared Noll appointed.
Noll, who told the board she has 30 years in education with experience as a teacher, assistant principal and principal and holds a master's degree and administrative licensure, said she would center decisions on students and rely on data to balance short-term needs with long-term planning. "The 1st and foremost need is what's best for our students," Noll said during her interview.
Board members praised the candidate pool and discussed applicants' respective strengths before the vote. The new member will be sworn in at a workshop on Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m., the chair said. The appointment fills the seat through June 2027, completing the prior term.
