Sunol Glen board creates Business Advisory Council and adopts several policy updates

The board voted to form a Business Advisory Council (BAC), an advisory subcommittee intended to include a board member, certificated and classified bargaining-unit representatives, parents, PTO members and community members to provide input on budget priorities and help improve transparency.
"The purpose is to provide recommendations to me as superintendent and also the governing board about budget related items and really to support thoughtful transparent student centered budget decisions," the superintendent said during the presentation. The BAC will be advisory only and staff outlined a two‑year membership term with three to five meetings per year aligned to budget timelines.
Trustees also reviewed and approved a set of CSBA policy updates (February 2026) with requested edits to bylaw 9322 (agenda preparation) and bylaw 9323 (meeting conduct). Edits include clarifying that written board‑member requests should be accepted, shortening an administrative response window, and requiring affirmative denial by both the board president and superintendent if an item is not placed on an agenda.
The board approved the BAC formation and the policy revisions by voice vote and directed staff and legal counsel to prepare the notice and application forms for BAC recruitment.
