The Seaside School District 10 Board held a special meeting on Feb. 9, 2026, to interview applicants for the Zone 4/Position 2 school board vacancy. Chair Shannon Swedenborg told the board the purpose of the evening was to interview candidates and that "the Board is interviewing candidates tonight, but will not be taking any action." The board heard from Coral Sadler (interview began at 7:01 p.m.), Kelsey Betts (7:10 p.m.) and Derek Urbach (7:23 p.m.).
Two applicants had withdrawn before the interviews: the minutes state that Justin Whitaker and Trissa Como withdrew their applications and were not interviewed. Board members discussed next steps and confirmed that appointing a new member would be on the agenda for the board's Feb. 17 regular meeting. No appointment or vote occurred at the Feb. 9 session.
