District reports reading gains; staff plan parent nights to discuss children's phone use

"We have all but 1 of our grade levels in the top right quadrant, which shows both high growth and high achievement for our kids," the staff member said while describing a chart comparing grade-level performance. The presenter said they will produce fall-to-spring comparisons once spring results are available.
Staff discussed plans to support families: staff organized a book-study across elementary and secondary staff and proposed parent nights focused on guiding children’s phone use and building parental support networks. The presenter said nearly 30 staff members participated in the reading-related discussions and the booster club purchased classroom books to support shared reading.
Board members asked whether the daily reading time would expand; the presenter said the plan for next year is to add five minutes (from 20 to 25 minutes) of daily reading to build more independent and shared reading time.
