Sheriff Johnwayne Valdez told the Tatum ISD Board on Feb. 10 that his office received extra funds and was offering a mass-casualty bag to the district. Valdez said the bag is equipped to help 10 people and would be stored so first responders would know its location upon arrival.
The board approved acceptance of the mass-casualty bag by a 6-0 vote. Curt Smith moved to accept the donation and Kip Smith Amick seconded. Superintendent J.P. Richardson led a brief discussion of logistics; no district funds were committed at the meeting.
