The Green Bay Area Public School District board on Aug. 4 approved employment of staff recommended by district administrators, including a hire for Lombardi Middle School.
Staff member Mike said, "We have, a recommended hire for Lombardi Middle School 11 month associate principal, John Miller." He told the board the packet included teacher recommendations and that the hires are backfills rather than new positions.
Mike said the list includes "about 12, 13" teacher recommendations and that "they are all backfills due to vacancies that were created through resignations or retirements previously that the board would have previously approved." The board discussed briefly and recorded the vote; the clerk confirmed the motion carried with five yes votes and one member not present at vote due to technical difficulties.
The district did not propose any newly created positions at this meeting; administrators framed the approvals as necessary to have schools staffed before the start of the academic year and to allow new employees to attend orientation.
