Troup ISD reports completed roof work, damaged scoreboard and seeks alarm upgrades; architect joins closed session on security

President Shane Jasper called the meeting to order July 14 at 6:01 p.m. and Preston Lindsey, director of support services, briefed trustees on multiple facilities items. He said the high-school roof job has been completed and that several campus floors have been cleaned and waxed though "several need to be waxed again." He reported the football scoreboard was damaged by lightning or a related power surge, an insurance claim has been filed and a replacement board has been ordered with the goal of having it in place for the first game.
Lindsey told the board an A/C unit will need to be reset after a curb repair and that fieldhouse showers are being repaired but parts have been difficult to find; several mowers are currently in the shop. He said the district has asked Universal Times for quotes to consider enhancing building alarm alert systems. Later in the meeting the board convened an executive session at 6:47 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. asked Mr. Lindsey and Heath Aggen, architect with Berry and Clay, to join that closed session to discuss safety and security initiatives for possible improvements. The board reconvened at 8:11 p.m. and reported no action was taken in open session.
