Police report: 1,717 calls for service in January; department notes equipment issues

"A total of 1,717 calls for service and special details were attended," he said, then listed enforcement and program statistics including 337 motor-vehicle stops, 194 motor-vehicle summonses, 59 school safety checks and one DUI arrest. He also reported that car 603 may have a blown transmission and that mechanics plan to transplant an engine from another vehicle to maintain fleet readiness. The report noted $2,200.21 turned over to the borough treasurer in fees for the month.
Council did not take further action on the report but recorded it for the minutes and budgetary tracking.
