Council calls this year’s budget process "rigorous," auditor review due next month

Councilman Gwan told the Old Tappan Borough Council that budget meetings have concluded and described the process as thorough, saying the administration sought to minimize tax increases while meeting mandatory obligations such as wage contracts and insurance. He said the next step is a scheduled review with the auditor and that the council hopes to vote on the budget after that review.
“I think it was a sensible budget, that we've come up with,” Councilman Gwan said, noting mandatory increases (wages, health insurance) and necessary capital replacement. He added the budget will be reviewed with the auditor “within a month,” after which a vote is expected.
