Resident says tow and retrieval process failed during blizzard; police chief pledges review

During the Feb. 24 Ridgefield Park Board of Commissioners meeting, resident Richard Scott described difficulties retrieving his vehicle after it was towed during the recent blizzard. Scott said he walked from Police Headquarters to Tumino's, a vehicle storage lot, for about 25 minutes and had to make three trips before staff at Tumino's released his car to him; he asked the board to fix the retrieval process.
Chief of Police Mike Cmielewski acknowledged the problem in the public hearing and told Scott, "this shouldn't have happened and will look into it." The board recorded the comment and no immediate policy change was adopted at the meeting; the chief's statement was recorded as a follow-up action for the department.
