Ridgefield Park commissioners adopt multiple ordinances, approve change order after blizzard response

Among formal actions, the board adopted Ordinance 2026-03 (amending Chapter 177, "Fees"), Ordinance 2026-04 (merging zoning powers), and Ordinance 2026-07 (amending the Mount Vernon Street redevelopment plan concerning affordable housing). The board also approved Resolution 2026-29 (Change Order No. 2 to New Prince Concrete Construction Co.). All recorded roll-call votes on those items were recorded as unanimous: Commissioners Anlian, Gerken, Mirza, Portorreal and Mayor MacNeill voted "YEA." The ordinance introducing revised Fair Share Housing rules (Ordinance 2026-08) was given first reading and scheduled for a public hearing on March 10, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
The meeting included a public comment from resident Richard Scott about difficulties retrieving a towed car during the recent blizzard; Police Chief Mike Cmielewski said, "this shouldn't have happened and will look into it." Commissioners publicly thanked the Police Department and DPW for storm response work earlier in the meeting. The board's actions were taken under the meeting notice provided per the Open Public Meeting Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et seq.).
