Temple ISD staff say Dickson HVAC damage likely storm-related; sale "as is" limits district liability
Summary

Dr. Bobby Ott and staff member Kent Boyd briefed the committee on a request from TAMRA asking the district to pay for HVAC damage at the Dickson facility. Dr. Ott said the damage was "probably sustained during storms in May, a couple of weeks prior to the closing of the sale." He added that TAMRA representatives did not inspect the equipment after the storms and did not bring the damage to the attention of TISD administration before closing.
Dr. Ott said legal counsel reviewed the matter and advised that because the facility was sold "as is," Temple ISD was not responsible for paying for repairs. The committee did not record any motion or vote regarding the request during the meeting; the discussion was presented as staff information.
