The council deemed two ordinances adopted on first reading during its Aug. 3 meeting. The first (O-23-26) will allow resident-only parking on East Hazelwood Avenue between Fulton Street and New Brunswick Avenue to address persistent driveway-blocking from an adjacent commercial property; the second (O-24-26) amends Chapter 177 (construction codes) to update the fee schedule for solar-system permits.
Council members discussed enforcement and the commercial side’s access to parking; Councilwoman Timmons clarified the resident side would be restricted while the opposite side would remain first-come, first-served for commercial users. Both ordinances were scheduled for final public hearing and adoption on Sept. 8, 2026.
